Some Girls Get Flowers, Some Girls Hoard Yarn

…and dye it to look like flowers. I would fall into the latter category.

Most of the time, I employ the ‘wing and a prayer’ method when it comes to dyeing yarn. I grab whatever colors appeal to me at that particular moment (usually blues and greens), throw a random mix into the dye pot, and hope it doesn’t come out looking like cat barf.

This week, I decided to try something new – namely, a reasonably well-thought out plan. I decided to create a colorway from a photo (which was lifted from the amazing Deirdre McCormick). Here’s how it turned out.

It doesn’t look like vomit, so I’m calling it a success.

  1. Oh my God….RUTH! Your yarn turned out absolutely BEA-U-TI-FULLY! Girl, you have such an incredible eye for color. You captured all of the different shades of pink, peach, and coral…it truly is amazing. I don’t even knit, and I want to buy some! And, ya know what else? Your photo is so lovely…you should sell prints of it. All of your yarn photos are lovely! You’re pretty damn handy with a camera, and it shows.
So glad you liked my photo! You seriously put it to good use. 😉
    xoxo Deirdre
