Sketchbook Project 2012 : Today in My Mailbox

Oy. So far today, the normally loving and docile, Sir has a) kicked me repeatedly in an attempt to get me out of bed (how dare I sleep in until 7:30!) b) bitten me and c) nearly given me a coronary by attempting to jump from a shopping cart in a busy parking lot.

This is the last time I let his favorite parent go out of town for the weekend.

Thankfully, nap time arrived just before he was able to tie me up and feed me to the dogs. As I sat exasperated and grasping at the last shred of sanity I had left today, I realized that, in my haste to get Sir in the house and keep him from running down the street with a pilfered bag of frozen onion rings (true story), I had forgotten to check the mail. I trudged out to the box and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a brand new pair of ugly shoes AND my Sketchbook Project package!

BEHOLD!

So, I guess this thing is really real now. That means I’ve got a lot of work to do, and I have a feeling I’ll have a lot of time to do it once the nice men in the white coats come to take me to my new home.

Dear Big Sir,

Please hurry back. And bring onion rings.

Thanks,
r.

  1. Torn between commenting on “ugly shoes” and “Dear Twitter” — I opted for the shoes as I think I recognize them. Yes, I too have ugly shoes and wear them proudly. My husband HATES them. Deirdre Hates them. Our dear departed cat HATED them — he barfed up a hair ball on one pair. Disturbing, to say the least. Oh, how I love a good laugh — at someone else’s expense, of course.

  2. Yay! You got your sketchbook! Okay…I think you have officially made me want to do it, too. There. I said it. I’m going to. Just make sure you have enough room in your ‘new home’ for my stuff, too….I have a feeling this idea may just send me visiting you and your new white-coated friends. But, there is one good point about your new home. Sir will not be allowed in with any sharp objects, or offending bags of onion rings.
As for your shoes, well, I have no comment. My Mom has some ugly shoes, as well. I do believe we call one pair her ‘Forest Gump magic shoes’. I’m not kidding, either.

    1. Ugly Shoe Wearers of the world, unite! Actually, pretty much everything I wear is ugly. Heh.

Deirdre, I’m totally holding you to your word on the Sketchbook Project. AND, you said it in front of your mom, so you totally can’t back out now! I’ll be saving you a bed at the funny farm. See you soon!

  3. but why would you buy ugly shoes when there are so many cute ones out there? next time, take me shoe shopping with you. :)

and what theme did you choose for your sketchbook project? or did you let them pick?
